Britney A. Colton

Overview

Britney Colton is Stoel Rives’ Chief Administrative Officer and a licensed attorney. She is responsible for providing firm-wide strategic direction and daily oversight of the following functions: Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Talent Development & Diversity, Office Administration, Administrative Support, Library/Knowledge Management, Paralegals, Practice and Project Support, and Practice Assistants (legal secretaries). Her charter is to maximize the utilization, efficiency, and effectiveness of all department personnel.

Britney serves as a trusted advisor to firm leadership and is a member of the Administrative Leadership Team. She is responsible for ensuring the entirety of the human capital functions, policies, and programs foster a healthy, vibrant, and inclusive work environment that motivates employees, recognizes successes, retains strong performers, and aligns with the firm’s strategic goals and objectives.

Before joining Stoel Rives, Britney was Director, Labor & Employee Relations, (2016–2018) and Deputy (then Senior) General Counsel (2006–2016) for TriMet. She was an adjunct professor at the University of Oregon School of Law (2011–2016) and an attorney for Davis Wright Tremaine, LLP (2005–2006). She was a Judicial Clerk for Chief Judge Ancer L. Haggerty for the United States District Court, District of Oregon (2003–2005).
