Air Quality

Air regulations are complex and often confusing. Failure to understand the nuances of the regulatory requirements can stop a project cold or result in million dollar penalties. There is no room for error and there is no room for dabblers. You either know air or you don't.
The Stoel Rives Air Team has been tackling air permitting issues for more than 30 years. We know the rules like your business depends on it. Because it does. And so whether you need a quick opinion whether the use of a particular solvent triggers labeling requirements or you need long term support for permitting a major new facility, the Stoel Rives Air Team is the resource to turn to. Chances are, we've been there before. From power plants to organic chemical manufacturers, from steel mills to chip fabs, we have the experience. We know the rules, we understand how plants run and we work to help protect your bottom line.

Throughout the west, we have handled major new source review permitting for a variety of new facilities and facility expansions. On these projects, we work hand-in-hand with the facility's project engineers and outside consultants. With an understanding of technical aspects, business needs and regulatory constraints, we help our clients obtain workable permits on schedule.

We have assisted with well over 100 Title V permits including the first Title V permits and Compliance Assurance Monitoring (CAM) Plans in the country. We have worked with clients on dozens of major new source review permitting projects (both attainment, i.e., PSD, nonattainment and maintenance area new source review). Team members routinely deal with issues such as emission reduction credits, source specific rulemaking (RACT and BART), permit appeals, visibility and deposition analyses, toxic and hazardous air pollutant standards and new source performance standards. Our efforts for industry groups have influenced the development of EPA policy and rules on a variety of permitting issues. Our attorneys routinely sit on agency advisory committees and are active in rule making and policy development throughout our region. Our agency relations can sometimes make the difference between the success or failure of a permitting action.

Drawing on this depth of experience, we can field a formidable team for defending citizen suits, permit challenges and agency enforcement actions (civil and criminal). This expertise extends to civil litigation arising from odor/deposition and toxic exposure complaints. We've handled the full range of air quality litigation cases-and quite a few at that.

Real issues call for real air attorneys. Put the Stoel Rives Air Team to work for you.
