Stoel Rives Attorneys Greg Jenner, Adam Kobos, Carl Lewis, and Kevin Pearson are instructors at the In-Depth Tax Planning for Renewable Energy Projects course presented by EUCI.
Planning for the use of tax incentives is vitally important in any renewable energy transaction. Efficient use of these incentives often means the difference between whether a project "pencils out" economically or not.
However, how these various incentives work and how they can be effectively "monetized" is often left to the experts or discussed only in the most general terms. As a result, developers and owners are often at a disadvantage when it comes to negotiating with potential tax equity incentives.
This course is designed to give owners, developers, and other professionals in the renewable energy industry an in-depth understanding of the tax issues involved in renewable energy projects. The discussion will first focus on the various incentives available for renewables, and then move to an in-depth discussion of the tax and accounting rules for partnerships and learning structures. The discussion will then shift the focus to real-life case studies, using economic models designed specifically for renewable energy projects. The seminar will end with a round-table discussion with experienced renewable developers.
