SALT LAKE CITY- Finalists Named in the 10th Annual Utah Innovation Awards Program
Utahns continue to prove their commitment to excellence and ingenuity by developing promising and cutting-edge innovations designed to advance science and improve medical treatments, industries and everyday conveniences. Twenty-seven innovations, from across multiple industries and business sectors, have been selected as finalists and honorable mention recipients in the 10th annual Utah Innovation Awards, presented by Stoel Rives LLP and the Utah Technology Council.
This statewide program, the first of its kind and sponsored by Utah Business magazine, KUER, Webb Audio Visual Communication and Stage 12, is designed to recognize innovations and the Utah companies that created them. Winners will be announced, and finalists and honorable mention recipients will be honored, at a special Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Marriott City Center. Registration is available online at www.stoel.com/utahinnovation.
"The Utah Innovation Awards program is organized to honor and celebrate innovations shaping each industry and business sector in this state," said Rob Yates, 2012 Utah Innovation Awards' Co-Chairman and Stoel Rives Corporate Partner. "The diverse composition of this year's honorees (i.e. cancer-related therapies, a hydration pack, interactive education tools and a custom packaging machine), serves as a very promising indicator of the strength and promise of Utah's economy."
A committee of 50 experts from Utah's private industry, government and academic communities voted on winners and finalists in each of the program's eight categories: Biotechnology; Clean Technology and Energy; Computer Hardware/Electrical Devices; Consumer Products; Consumer Software; Enterprise Software and Business-to-Business Solutions; Mechanical Systems/Chemicals/Manufacturing; and Medical Devices. The Selection Committee votes were tallied by the accounting firm and program supporter, Grant Thornton.
